It is with great sadness and much heartbreak that we share the tragic loss of our sweet, beautiful little Zoraya. Daughter, Sister, Granddaughter, Niece, Cousin.

On this day, we somberly remember her spirit with love and memories. To give testimony to the love and blessings that so enriched our lives by Zoraya’s arrival to our family.

First, We gather to remember—to remember Zoraya in her moments of infant delight: to recall all of her “firsts,” first day......first cry, her first smile, her first baby coos, first laugh, first rolling over and her growing awareness and response to the people/world around her. To her sweetness, to her quiet and watchful gaze, and the joy she inspired in one little smile.

We gather also to mourn— the loss of Zoraya, at the suddenness of her passing that has shattered our hearts.

To mourn for the loss of love growing into tomorrow, deepening and maturing through joy and conflict;

to mourn the empty spaces in our homes, and lives that were filled as she took her place among our family and in our hearts;

to mourn the loss of joy that comes alongside watch her grow and change beside us, to run or walk at the shore, to play or fight with her sister, to grow up with cousins and family, to hug and say “i love you.”

Our tears of sadness at the loss of this precious little life cut short before it could blossom forth in fullness mingle with tears of sadness for the loss of hopes not realized.

With the sadness of loss, we come also in gratitude, forever thankful for her life and every second the Lord gave us with her; thankful for the difference she has made in our lives and others with her presence; thankful for the power of love that issued from her little being and the joy we drew from her presence.

Thus, with many tears of memories, of loss, and of gratitude, we are here to grow through an ending into a beginning—to leave her in the safe and secure arms of our Lord, to let go of Zoraya with memories and treasures gathered up for the journey, to gain strength for moving through the days ahead. To say goodbye to her, and to commit her spirit to Jesus and eternal peace.

Little One, our hearts were just not ready… We will miss you until we see you again. Noni’s “lil sunshine”.
