Obituary

William Jeffrey Hill, of Puyallup, Washington, was born September 30, 1941, and passed away on January 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and quiet courage. Bill was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, Marine, mountaineer, and friend. His life was marked by deep commitment—to his family, to his country, and to the mountains he loved.

Born with an adventurous spirit, Bill found profound joy in the outdoors, especially in the peaks of the Pacific Northwest. He summited Mount Rainier several times and climbed many other peaks across the West Coast. The mountains were his sanctuary, a place where he felt most alive and at peace.

He served his country with honor as a United States Marine, carrying the values of service, discipline, and integrity with him throughout his life. After his military service, Bill continued to support the nation in his civilian career with the United States Air Force, a role he approached with integrity and unwavering commitment.

Bill is survived by his sons, David Hill and Stephen Lockwood, who will carry forward his legacy of resilience and love. He was a proud grandfather to Noah Hill and Natalie Hill, whose lives were brightened by his presence. He is also survived by his brothers, Gary Hill and John Hill, and by his niece, Carrie Hill, all of whom he shared deep bonds of family and friendship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Marshall Hill and Selma Elvina Hill (née Mogard), and by his brother, Richard Hill.

Bill will be remembered for his steadfast spirit, his love of the outdoors, and the devotion he held for his family. His memory will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A service honoring Bill's life will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Chambers Creek Chapel at New Tacoma Cemetery, located at 9221 Chambers Creek Rd W, University Place, WA 98467.
