Waneta Lorene Leighty Joslyn passed away peacefully at home in Tacoma, WA on January 5, 2023. Born on July 20, 1932 to Lawrence Ray Leighty and Hester Pearl Shelley Leighty in Ben Davis, Missouri. She grew up in Missouri, California and Washington. She married Herbert Wayne Joslyn on September 11, 1951 in Yakima, WA. Herbert "Wayne" served in the U. S. Navy. During their time in the Navy they lived in Texas, California and Japan. They had four daughters: Debra Kay Patterson (John), Linda Gail Rockwell (Randall deceased), Connie Ellen Willis (Leroy deceased) and Cheryl Ann Stark (Gary). She is survived by 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She worked at the Del Monte packing house in Yakima, WA and several Woolworth Stores. Waneta was a faithful Prayer Warrior and enjoyed writing in her Prayer Journal daily. She faithfully read and studied the Bible and Devotional Books. She also enjoyed doing word games and puzzles. She was an avid collector of Salt and Pepper shakers from all 50 states and numerous countries. Waneta was a Hospital Volunteer at several hospitals near bases Wayne and she were stationed. A celebration of her life and legacy was held in a graveside service on January 12, 2023 at New Tacoma Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Westhill Church in Auburn, WA at a future date.
