Obituary

Victor lost his battle with Parkinson's Disease on May 11, 2024.  He passed peacefully surrounded by family.  Vic was born in Ogden, Utah during a stop his parents Sofie and Ole Holme made their way from Norway to Tacoma, Wa.  Vic grew up in Tacoma as the older brother to David Holme and sister Eileen Zawislak (deceased).  He leaves behind his wife of 60 years Barbara, children Michael and Kristine Holme, granddaughters Corey Kroll and Kelly Holme, and great grandchildren Maddie and Baylie.

Growing up in the South End, Vic graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to study Education at Oregon State University (Bachelors) and University of Puget Sound (Masters).  Vic taught elementary school in the Tacoma School District for close to 5 decades.  His dedication to children, community and family resonated every day. Longtime member of St Mark's Lutheran Church by the Narrows, Vic participated in multiple acts of service and church groups.  He was dedicated to the Fircrest Recreation Center for many years as manager of the pool, coach, and mentor.  June 10 was dedicated to Victor in Fircrest, for his many years of service as coach for the parks department and teacher at both Wainwright and Whittier Elementary Schools.

Vic loved all things sports and travel.  He visited all but 2 major baseball parks in the US and loved going to Mariners games with his wife and friends.  Barb and Vic's first date was at Mason Lake in Grapeview WA where they eventually acquired a lake cabin that the family enjoyed up until recently.  Boating, fishing, and puttering around the cabin was Vic's happy place.   Vic was known for his quiet strength.  His actions always spoke louder than his words.  He enjoyed working in the yard, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
