Troy Lynn Dapping

April 21, 1958 – July 11, 2025

On Friday, July 11, 2025, heaven opened the door and welcomed its newest angel, Troy Lynn Dapping. Troy passed away suddenly, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and love that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Troy was born on April 21, 1958, in Anchorage, Alaska to George and Patricia Dapping. In 1960, at the age of two, he moved with his family to Sunnyside, Washington, where he grew up and formed the foundation of the values and work ethic that would define his life.

In 1976, Troy met Vicki Smith in Packwood, Washington. The two were married on December 8, 1979, and together they built a life filled with laughter, hard work, and love. They welcomed their son, Justin Troy, on June 30, 1980, and their daughter, Desiree Dawn, on September 23, 1987. Though life eventually led Troy and Vicki down different paths, they remained close friends throughout the years. Troy never remarried after Vicki.

Troy was a jack of all trades, known for his versatility and strong work ethic. Over the years, he worked as a truck driver, journeyman carpenter, millwright, and home remodeler. He even gave babysitting a try—though that career ended quickly when he was caught napping on the job, a memory that still brings smiles to his family.

In 1999, Troy relocated to Texas, where he spent many years before returning to Washington state in 2023. Though he could come across as shy at first, once you got to know him, Troy had plenty to say. He was incredibly observant, quick-witted, and known for his sharp sense of humor and his unforgettable chuckle that filled any room with warmth.

Troy is survived by his beloved children: Justin (Georgia) Dapping and Desiree (Chad) Hull; and his cherished grandchildren: Mason, Jack, Nora, Owen, Landon, and Taylor. He is also survived by his brother Roger Dapping of Nine Mile, WA, and sister Laurie (Ben) Ozuna of Seattle, WA; 10 nieces, 2 nephews, 8 great-nieces, and 11 great-nephews, all of whom loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Dapping, mother Patricia Lund, and siblings Kathleen Dominquez, Marilyn Cavin, Michael Fisher, and Georgeanne Jackson.

Troy's legacy is one of humor, resilience, love, and a deep connection with those around him. His laugh, his stories, and his gentle presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
