Tommy H. Yotsuuye, 81, peacefully passed away on November 16, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Tommy was born in 1941, the middle child of Toju and Kazue Yotsuuye. Starting from a young age he worked on the family farm, Brookville Gardens. (He claims he was driving tractors at 8 years old). At Fife High School, when he wasn't climbing flag poles, or performing triple flips on a trampoline at basketball game half-times, Tom wrestled in the 103 lb weight class and was the captain of the Fife football team (alas, only one win). He took pride in driving his '55 Chevy, even when he was trying to race the police (it didn't end well).

In 1960, Tom attended Central Washington University where he met and married his soul mate, Jane Taniguchi, from Kauai. They held annual extended family parties with volleyball, go-carts, hoops, Team Radish and Team Onion baseball battles (with the continuously evolving 'rules' in Tom's favor), and always plenty of good food. In the late 1970s, Tom took over management of Brookville Gardens; working from 4 am taking orders to midnight after deliveries were done. But he still had time to bowl, fish, water ski, clam dig, gamble, golf, play cards, and ride bucking broncos or dance the Texas Two Step.

In 2004, Tom and Jane retired from farming and took up a winter residence in Arizona. They kept active in retirement, enjoying visits by their grandkids and great-grandkids (really they did!) and Tom added cornhole and pickleball to his list of hobbies. They were married for over 53 years until Jane passed in 2013.

Tom kept active and met Becky Hamilton, whom he traveled with, golfed, cooked dinners, and watched Japanese TV shows in the evenings. However, the last few years have been a challenge for a man that was active all his life. He continued to enjoy playing cards, talking with friends, and cheering on the Huskies, Hawks, and even the (finally winning) Mariners this year!

Tom is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Ernesto) Martinez and Tammy (Scott) Heydon; his grandchildren, Shannon Leilani Martinez, Tyler Heydon, Hannah Heydon; and great-grandchildren, Tatiana Martinez, Tristan Pen; siblings, Elsie Taniguchi, Roy "Skip" (Tracey) Yotsuuye; and numerous loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

A family graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 18th at 11am at New Tacoma Cemetery. A "Celebration of Life"  for friends and family will take place at Puyallup's Pioneer Park Pavilion on Sunday, June 4th at 1pm, doors open at 12:30pm.
