Takako Bjornstal, of Shoreline, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, from heart failure. She was born in Tokyo, Japan, and lived a full and meaningful life surrounded by family, love, and laughter. Takako's journey began in Japan, where she grew up with a strong sense of family and tradition. She met her husband, Alexander in Japan, while he was station with the 187th Infantry Regiment (Rakkasans).  Later in life, she moved to the United States, building a home and a life filled with warmth and care. She devoted herself to raising three wonderful children, celebrating their milestones, and sharing in their joys. Watching her children graduate from college and then seeing her two grandchildren grow into adulthood brought her great pride. She also stood by her son as he served in the military, always offering steady encouragement and love. Takako had many passions that reflected her creativity and kindness. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and playing mahjong, and she was known for her delicious meals and thoughtful handmade gifts. She loved following sports, especially cheering on the Seattle Mariners and the Seattle Seahawks, and she rarely missed a good game. Her loyal dog, Sport, was her constant companion, bringing her daily comfort and joy. She is survived by her husband, Alexander; her children, Carl, Nina, and Paula Edwards; and by Diane Wiese Bjornstal, Christine, and Ryan who were also dear to her and considered part of her family. Each of them carries with them the lessons, humor, and love Takako shared so freely. While lightly religious, Takako found peace and reflection in her Buddhist faith, especially in moments of quiet contemplation. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her easy laughter, and the calm presence she brought to every gathering. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In honor of Takako, her family encourages friends to share a kind word, cook a favorite meal, or simply enjoy a quiet moment of gratitude, just as she often did.
