It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven T. "Steve" Dische, Major, U.S.
Army (Retired), who passed away unexpectedly at home on March 28, 2026, at the age of 68.

Born on June 12, 1957, in Pennsylvania, Steve was the son of Bobby and Athena Dische. He lived a
life defined by service, loyalty, intelligence, and a deep connection with those around him.

Steve proudly served in the United States Army beginning in 1979, dedicating 20 years of honorable service to his country before retiring as a major in 1999. His military career took him to many
locations throughout the world and reflected the discipline, leadership, and commitment that
remained hallmarks of his character throughout his life.

Following his military retirement, Steve continued his career in public service and national
security, working with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the Department of Homeland
Security, Argonne National Laboratory, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He was
respected not only for his professionalism and knowledge, but also for the relationships and
friendships he built throughout his career.

Outside of his work, Steve embraced life fully. He loved spending time with his Wine Group, enjoyed
skiing and long walks, and cherished meaningful conversations with family and friends.
Steve had a rare ability to connect with people from all walks of life and made others feel welcomed, heard, and appreciated. His warmth, humor, and generosity touched countless lives.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby Dische.

He is survived by his children: Sarah Rowland (Les) of Augusta, Nick Dische of Montana, and
Veronica Malo (Aaron) of Tacoma; and by his beloved grandchildren, Olivia, Callan, Skylar, and
William, who brought him immense pride and joy.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Old
Tacoma Cemetery, 4801 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA 98409. Family, friends, and all whose lives were
touched by Steve are welcome to attend and celebrate his life and legacy.

Steve deeply loved the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and especially the mountains affectionately.
known as "Her Majesty." If you are unable to attend the service, we hope you will think of Steve.
whenever the mountain is out and take a quiet moment to appreciate its beauty in his honor.

Though he will be deeply missed, Steve's memory will continue to live on through the family he
loved, the friendships he treasured, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.
