In Loving Memory of Silvino Concepcion Santiago

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Silvino Concepcion Santiago, who entered eternal rest home on May 20, 2025, at the age of 78 in Lakewood, WA, under the care of Franciscan Hospice, surrounded by the love and prayers of his devoted wife and family. Born on March 23, 1947, in Santiago City, lsabela, Philippines, he was the cherished son of Jose and Florentina Santiago and dedicated his life to serving his community.

At only 20 years old, he became the youngest Barangay Kagawad, later rising to Barangay Captain at age 26, holding the position for an incredible 20 years. His lifelong commitment to farming made him an exceptional rice seed producer, livestock farmer, mango cultivator, and vegetable grower, ensuring the prosperity of his barangay. His leadership extended beyond agriculture, as he served as Chairman of the Board of the United Methodist Church of Barangay Ambalatungan, playing a vital role in his congregation's spiritual development.

Among his many accomplishments, Silvino was recognized as the youngest Barangay Captain of Santiago City's 37 barangays, pioneering youth engagement in sports, organizing annual fiesta events, leading professional skills training programs, promoting healthcare and nutrition, initiating tree-planting projects, strengthening community peace and discipline, and supporting livelihood training programs. His active participation in church conferences solidified his legacy as a devoted servant of his faith and community.

Silvino was admired for his generosity, always helping neighbors in need, whether by providing materials for home repairs or donating supplies for special occasions. His hospitality extended to government employees visiting his barangay, whom he personally fed to support their mission in his community. A dedicated basketball player, he competed with neighboring barangays and mastered the art of planting rice, ensuring bountiful harvests. Above all, Silvino's faith remained the foundation of his life, constantly reminding his children to read the Bible and trust in the Lord, believing that Jesus is alive in us, offering wisdom and strength to overcome life's challenges.

He found joy, peace, and fulfillment in scripture, unafraid of death, and ready to share his unwavering faith with others. Silvino was a devoted husband to Myrna Santiago and a loving father to Lorna Santiago Ruiz (Edgar), Saranay Santiago Epistola (Sol), Saniatha Santiago Lamarche (Derrick), and Sharon Jayne Santiago Cruzada (Paul Michael). He was a proud grandfather to Sean James, Silvin Je m, Chloe, Claire Ann, and Michael Derrick. He cherished his relationships with his siblings: Benjamin Santiago, Gabriela S. Forcadilla, Dominga S. Bayaua, Leonila S. Adriano, Dionisio Santiago, Miguel Santiago, and Gorgonio Santiago.

His leadership and friendship were deeply valued by his Barangay Kagawad of Ambalatungan-Mr. Eugenio Maniago, Mr. Ernesto Sinsano, Mr. Dionisio Rivera, Mr. Sergio Sebastian, and Mr. Jose Tolentino- as well as Mr. Elpidio Estabillo and Mr. Camilo Concepcion, who stood by him throughout his journey. His political career was shaped by Mayor Antonio Abaya, and his spiritual mentorship was profoundly influenced by Rev. Benjamin Driz.

We invite family and friends to gather in remembrance at New Tacoma Cemetery, 9212 Chambers Creek Road West, Tacoma, WA 98467, for Visitation on May 30, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and Funeral Service on May 31, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

One of Silvino's cherished scriptures was Isaiah 41:10, a verse that guided his faith and resilience: ''So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

Tatang Silvino did not fear death, for he knew that Christ was with him. He lived by the Word, walked in faith, and left behind a legacy that will forever be remembered. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life devoted to service, strengthened by faith, and rooted in love. Each day, he found joy, peace, and deep satisfaction in reading the Word of God. His faith was not merely a belief, it was the guiding force of his life, the source of his strength and wisdom. As life's challenges unfolded, he reminded his children again and again: "Know the Lord God is with us. Read the Bible. Seek Jesus, for He alone  gives  us the strength to endure , wisdom to overcome, and peace to carry on."

Even in the face of death, he did not waver. Fear had no place in his heart, only the longing to share the message that burned within him. "Jesus is alive in our body," he said. "He dwells within us, and there is none other who can give us what He gives." But in his final days, a desire remained. "If I could walk again, if I had the chance to move once more, I would go home-not for myself, but to share this truth: Jesus is alive, and He lives in us!

May his words continue to inspire, his faith continues to strengthen, and his life be a testimony to the power of knowing Jesus. Rest in peace, Tatang Silvino. Your journey was one of devotion, compassion, and purpose. Your memory will forever be cherished, and your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
