Shirley Ardelle Wright
March 17, 1932 - August 26, 2026
Shirley Ardelle Coy was born March 17, 1932, in Tacoma, Washington, to Dewey Samuel Coy and Nida Wright. She grew up in a happy household of girls with her sisters, Gloria Barber, Virginia Nickel, Mary Lee Backstein and Nadine Nielsen King.
Grandpa Coy was the ultimate "girl dad". Mother told us often, no matter where she and her friends were, no matter how late the hour, they could always call her Dad to come and get them and bring them all home. Mother loved and honored her parents dearly. Grandma Coy lived with Mother and Cecil the last 14 years of her life.
In June 1951 Mother married our Dad, William Ross Wright. First in Tulelake, California and then in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple, for time and all eternity. An Eternal Family was her firm belief. Ann was born in 1952, Jayne in 1954, David in 1957 and Carol in 1962. Mother loved being a stay at home Mom and never really wanted to be anything else.
Our Dad passed away in July 1971 and two years later Mother renewed an old friendship, then in August 1973 she married Cecil Carroll and became step Mom to Alan and Cindy.
Mother loved family! Her happiest days were spent with her parents, her sisters and their spouses, her nieces and nephews, cousins and her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her posterity includes her four children, her in-law children, Larry, Dave and Jeanne. Sixteen grandchildren. Forty four great grandchildren. Two step grandchildren, their spouses Toni and Karl. Ten step grandchildren. Twenty four step great grandchildren.
Mother was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a sure and unshakable testimony of her Savior and followed His example of love, kindness and service in her daily life.
Mother died peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday August 26, 2026, (it was her Mother's birthday). She returned with joy to her Heavenly home.
