Obituary

Shawn, born in Ft. Walters, Texas to Michael McClatchey and Bess McClatchy on December 1, 1970, passed away unexpectedly into God's arms on May 25, 2022.

When the family moved to Washington in 1979, Shawn attended University Place schools, graduating from Curtis High School in 1990. He spent his Junior High years with his father, stepmother, sister, and two stepsisters in Amman, Jordan and Holland. He played soccer from age 5 until Junior High when he injured his knee. He also attended Pierce College.

Shawn joined the U.S. Navy in 1992, station aboard the USS Independence (CV-62), stationed three years in Japan. There he met his future wife, Kaori Saito. He left the Navy in 1995 and they were married in 1996 in Washington. In 2008 they welcomed the pride of their lives, a son, Kai Noah.

Shawn worked at Tacoma Elks 174 while in high school, Schwan's Foods after leaving the Navy, and then for the City of Tacoma for almost 20 years (Click Cable and then was transferred to TPU Customer Service.)

His passion since grade school was music, especially playing the guitar. He played in the Worship Team at Oasis Church at Lakewood, as well as the band, Wasted Sunday. He taught Kai well!
