Sharon Kondra born July 19, 1938, in Cape Charles, VA, passed away at home June 16, 2024, in University Place, WA.
Sharon was a Wife, Mom, Step Mom, Grandmother, Great Grand Mother, and aircraft marshal! She was Mom to Sheryl Brennell, Norfolk VA , son William (Billie) Fitchett K.C., MO. Step Mom to Mike Kondra (Annie) Eatonville, WA, Mark Kondra (Andra) Tacoma, WA, Scott Kondra (Kelly), Portland, OR. She was Grandmother to Nathan, Logan, Katie, Kylie, Joshua (Katelynn), and Faith. Great Grandmother to four Great Grandsons in Norfolk, VA. She blended two families into one with her equal and total commitment and love to each and every one.
As wife to Vern Kondra, Lt Gen USAF Ret'd, the Air Force truly got two for the price of one! She was a supporter for him and his career and equal supporter- of the families and people in her husband's command. She brought a close to his 31-year career by being the marshal who directed him into the chocks after his final flight. She was also the First Mate on the EAGLESTAR for ten years while boating on Northwest waters. With the switch from sea to land travel, Sharon was copilot and navigator as we traveled the Western States for the next 10 years, including a 32-day trip down the Baja. She never met a person that she didn't give a chance to be liked. The rest was up to them!
Her family wants to recognize the following organizations: The outstanding staff at Madigan Army Medical Hospital- Emergency Room, Wound Clinic, and Palliative Care- for all the support they provided through the last years of her life. West Pierce Fire District, Station 31 provided emergency response on numerous occasions. Puget Sound Hospice and Washington End of Life brought care and comfort to her and the family.
There will be a celebration of life for family only as requested by Sharon.
