Obituary

Sally Dee Soper passed away on December 24, 2023, at Tacoma General Hospital. She was born on June 14, 1943, also at Tacoma General Hospital, to Guy and Vida Beckstead. She lived in Tacoma almost her whole life. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Dorothy Beckstead, and older sister, Peggy Karlinsey. She is survived by four siblings: Cathy, Debbie, Terri, and Steven Guy; husband Nyle Soper; six children: Jeffery Ryan, Jennifer Ryan, Janae Ryan, Julie Ryan, Jill Ryan, and Joelynn Nana; 5 stepchildren: Cynthia, Heather, Amy, Michael, and Tiffany; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Throughout Sally's life, she spent many summers in Idaho with her beloved family on their farm. While spending summers in Idaho she loved her time working as a roller-skating carhop at the A&W. She graduated from Wilson High School, class of 1961. She then went on to her 60+ year career as a cosmetologist.

Sally was known for her deep love for flowers and gardening, her affection for her children and grandchildren, her joy in spending time at the Nisqually River with her family, her passion for singing (even if off-key), and her warm visits with friends. Sally touched the lives of many with her kindness. Sally's door was always open to all, and there was always a house full of children. Christmas held a special place in her heart, so it was fitting that she chose to return to her heavenly home on Christmas Eve.

Sally will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
