Obituary for Rose Marie Waverly

Rose Marie Waverly, 74, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on December 31, 2025, in Tacoma, Washington. She was born on July 24, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Clifford Brown and Ana Mae Williams.

A proud graduate of Philadelphia Catholic School, Class of 1969, Rose continued her education at Trinity College, where she earned both her associate and bachelor's degrees. Though she accomplished much in life, she always said her most important and cherished calling was being a devoted mother, grandmother, and homemaker.

Rose's life was defined by her unwavering faith and her passion for the Word of God. A lifelong student, teacher, and professor of Scripture, she found joy in going deeper into the Word and sharing its truth with others. When she wasn't teaching or ministering, she spent her time with her family—especially her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She served faithfully as pastor of Chosen One House of Deliverance and as leader and mentor of the Chosen One Women's Ministry, where she guided, uplifted, and empowered countless women and families. Rose was a gentle, patient, loving, and humble woman of God who gave of herself tirelessly. Her home and her heart were always open to anyone seeking comfort, wisdom, or a place to belong. She lived by her own simple but powerful creed: "If you CAN help, you DO help… no questions asked."

Rose is survived by her loving husband, Wilton Thomas Waverly; her children Wilton T. Waverly, Jr. (Angie), Thomas E. Waverly (Andrea), Theresia Gordon (daughter in Christ), and Monee' Gordon; and her cherished grandchildren Lania (26), Tyrell (24), Charles (22), T'Andre (19), Violet (14), and Rose (10).  She is also survived by her sisters, Ann Williams and Yvonne Bailey.

Rose was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Bruce Williams (1995) and Charles David Waverly (1997).

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Fresenius Kidney Care, the dedicated medical teams at St. Joseph Medical Center, the many prayers and support from the church family and community, and every person who sent a word, text, post, message, email, or phone call. Every single one matters.

Rose's legacy of faith, compassion, and service will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.
