Robert “Bob” Templin
November 4, 1957 – October 18, 2026
Robert H. Templin, lovingly known as Bob, passed away at the age of 68 following a wonderful weekend camping in Port Angeles. His passing was sudden and heartbreaking, leaving behind a family and countless friends who will forever miss his infectious smile, wonderful sense of humor, and unmistakable love for life.
Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Bob lived an adventurous life that took him around the world. He briefly lived in France, moved to New York, where he met his wife and best friend, Joanie, later started a family in California, and eventually settled back home in Tacoma, WA. His travels brought incredible experiences, lifelong friendships, and more stories than could ever be counted. A natural adventurer, Bob also learned to fly and loved taking his Cessna up into the sky.
Bob dedicated more than 45 years to the airline catering industry, beginning as a truck driver at just 18 years old and working his way up to vice president of Western Region Operations. His career reflected decades of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
Outside of work, Bob found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved crabbing, fishing, camping, clamming, gold panning, playing cards and dice, watching sports, and playing video games. He was a passionate cook who never measured a thing and a gifted storyteller who could bring people together with humor and a good story. Above all, Bob cherished spending time with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Joanie; his only son, Robert L. Templin II (Bobby), and daughter-in-law, Paris; his parents, Joyce and Bob Templin; his sisters, Beki Shoemaker (Frank) and Robin Fox (Jay); his brother, Brian Templin (Sue); his numerous nieces and nephews; and his cherished dog, Jazzy. He also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends.
Bob's life was filled with adventure, laughter, and love. He leaves behind memories from around the world, stories that will continue to be told, meals that never needed recipes, and a legacy of joy that will live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the spirit with which he lived will remain with us always.
A burial service will be held on October 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. at New Tacoma Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
