After his short battle with ALS, our loving husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, colleague and caring friend, Patrick McGoldrick, passed peacefully to his forever home in heaven at the age of 83 on January 13, 2024 in University Place, Washington.  He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends during his final days.

Pat was born on March 22, 1940 in Tacoma, Washington to Donald and Susan McGoldrick. He spent the majority of his life in the Pacific Northwest, except when serving as an officer in the Air Force where he was stationed in Mississippi and Ohio. Pat graduated from Clover Park High School in 1958, and then attended Washington State University where he met his forever love, Aileen, and his esteemed Theta Xi Brothers. He graduated from WSU with a BA and an MA in Economics. Pat thoroughly enjoyed his time in Pullman, and this is where his loyalty for his beloved Cougs began. While watching games or passing a fellow Coug, you could always hear him call out a joyful, "Go Cougs!"

Pat and Aileen settled in University Place in 1972 to raise their two daughters and join his father at Swanson-McGoldrick Real Estate Company, where he started the Property Management division. Pat was a dedicated businessman, serving the greater Tacoma area for over 41 years. In 1979, Pat's vision of a family homestead on the Puget Sound came to fruition when he and Aileen purchased their slice of paradise on Oro Bay, Anderson Island. Together they spent the next few decades building their home, their community, and many life long friendships. In retirement, Pat loved spending his days volunteering with the Anderson Island Historical Society, walking the island with friends, taking his grandchildren truckin' around the island, pulling people skiing and tubing around the bay, and participating in various men's fellowship groups on the island.

Pat enjoyed most of the outdoor activities the beautiful Pacific Northwest provides. At various times in his life you would find Pat running, skiing, beach combing, or boating on the Puget Sound. However, most importantly, he enjoyed sitting on his bulkhead overlooking Oro Bay, where he could soak up the beauty of Puget Sound, his most favorite place on Earth.

Above all, Pat was a faith-filled, devoted and loving family man. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his three grandchildren, supporting their joys and passions of daily life. You would often find him cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines or beaming in the audience.

Pat is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Aileen; beloved daughter Holly (Jim) Albers and their children Maddie and Josh; beloved daughter Shannon (Greg) Fisher and their daughter Kensie; brother Dave and sisters Mary and Nancy; and many other family members, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Pat, Dad, Grandpa will be greatly missed, but he left a legacy of faith, and a family he loved and who loved him unconditionally. He ran a great race and finished strong. May we live up to the legacy he left us. May he rest in peace…until we meet again.

Aileen and family are forever grateful to the care team at the American Lake VA ALS clinic and the Providence Hospice of Seattle team for the excellent care and support they provided Pat and his family these past few months.
