I, Norma Leonor Mason, was born on January 30 ^th , 1938, in Limon, Costa Rica. My parents were Anita Samuels and Benjamin Mason. My siblings are Marjorie Mason, Dorothy Samuels, Lupita Samuels, and Carlos Samuels.  On my eight birthday I was taken to Colon, Panama by my aunt Vi, as my mother was too ill to take care of me.  Not long after, my aunt took sick, and I was left in the care of a closet knit Afro-Caribbean community and God who always shined His face upon me.

I attended Christ Church del Carmen school and completed my secondary education at Octavio Mendez Pereira in Colon.  I worked hard and did everything to make sure my four daughters did well; and thank God Almighty "me pickni dem did good for themselves". I often reminded them "It is me one and Massa God".  They knew that they had to "straighten up and fly right".

My children are Aura Pernell, Ariadne Johnson, Damaris Nightingale, Niki Nightingale, and Rigoberto Wallace.  My grandchildren are Dwayne Pernell, Dion Pernell, Tanisha Nightingale, Janisha Nightingale, Bernard Johnson, Danielle Pernell, Kelsey Johnson, Rigoberto Wallace Jr, Damaris Wallace.  My great grandchildren are Dierre Pernell and Noelle Johnson.

I graduated from the University of Panama in 1972 with a BS of Arts in Education.  My thesis "Usage of Prepositions in English by Speakers of Spanish and Speakers Creole English" became a required text for Students of English at the University of Panama.

In 1978, I was a delegate appointed by the United Nations to do research on the Creole English spoken in Bocas del Toro, Panama.

Always giving thanks and with prayers and contemplation on the Lord, I was a recipient for a scholarship to pursue a master's degree in education at the University of Delaware.  I graduated with honors in 1978 with in Master of Arts in Reading.

In 1990, I moved to Tacoma, Washington and joined the Mt Tahoma Seventh Day Adventist Church.  I enjoyed serving as an active member and developed so many close and beautiful relationships. Many members were more like family to me.  I loved them and they loved me back.

I have lived to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Now, I must go to be with the Lord of my Salvation. I go with a peaceful heart knowing that God did not give me a mind of fear but a sound mind and that He is my refuge and my strength.

I pray, my living testimony serves as inspiration and aspiration to my all my loves ones; loved ones by blood and love ones by kinship.
