Nobuo Koshiyama, born on March 18, 1927, in Lahaina, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, at the age of 97, in DuPont, Washington.

Nobuo proudly served his country for 21 years in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant Major before his retirement. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, with his service tours taking him to Japan, Hawaii, Germany, and Washington State. Remarkably, he was promoted from Corporal to Master Sergeant in just 15 months, an advancement that required special approval. During his distinguished military career, he received numerous commendation letters, three Bronze Stars, and four commendation medals.

After retiring from the Army, Nobuo continued his commitment to service with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau of the Washington State Patrol, from which he also retired.

In his leisure time, Nobuo was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the excitement of casino slot machines. He was a passionate fan of the Seattle Mariners, the Seattle Seahawks, and University of Washington football, rarely missing a game on television.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean, and his daughter-in-law, Sue. Nobuo is survived by his sons, Glenn and Paul (wife, Martha); his cherished granddaughter, Leah, and her spouse, Andreea; and his precious great-granddaughter, Mercer.

Nobuo will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his service to his country, and his love for life's simple pleasures. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
