Nancy (Cook) Klotz

June 27,1946 - July 9, 2024

Tacoma Washington

Nancy was born in Colfax, Washington, to Harry and Lillian Cook.  She was the third of four daughters and grew up on a wheat farm near Lamont, Washington.  The farm had horses as well as other animals and horseback riding was one of Nancy's favorite things to do.  She helped her father harvest wheat during the summer and had many stories regarding driving the wheat truck (and the near misses) to unload the wheat.

After graduating from Lamont High School she attended Whitworth College in Spokane and then switched to Central Washington University in Ellensburg where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1968.  After completing her student teaching at Rainier High School, she started her teaching career at Wilson High School in Tacoma, Washington.  During her 28 year teaching career, she taught accounting and keyboarding at Wilson, Foss and Lincoln high schools.  She was always pleased when students (some of whom she taught decades ago) would recognize her and compliment her on her teaching.  Nancy retired from teaching in 2004.

In 1973, she met Dave Klotz while he was in the Air Force and they married in 1974.They have two daughters, Allison and Lori and two grandkids, Lily and Ryan.  Nancy's life revolved around her family and she was an ardent supporter of her daughters' school activities and sports endeavors including tee ball, soft ball, basketball and volleyball.

Nancy and Dave enjoyed traveling, took numerous trips in the States, and cruises to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Italy and Greece, Australia and New Zealand, Alaska, Mexico and river cruises on the Rhine and Danube rivers.  Nancy enjoyed watching regional sports teams, reading (especially Nora Roberts), games, cards and gardening.

Nancy is survived by her husband, daughters Allison Klotz and Lori Robbin (Matt), grandkids Lily Robbin and Ryan Robbin, sisters Donna (Don) Harbaugh, Shirley (Larry) Benson, Paula Cook and many nieces and nephews.

After struggling for years, Nancy passed away from complications due to dementia/Alzheimers'. There will be a Celebration of Life in Buckley, Washington on August 14th, and interment in the Tahoma National Cemetery on August 15th.  If you wish to donate, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association at https://act.alz.org.
