Nadine Inez Halstead

July 1, 1922 – March 31, 2024

Nadine Inez Halstead was born in Tacoma, Washington on July 1, 1922, to parents William R. Waer and Inez M Waer. Nadine died peacefully in her sleep on Easter morning, March 31, 2024, at the age of 101 (+9 months). Nadine left this world as she came into it, healthy, strong, determined, active and living each day to its fullest.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James R. Halstead, and her son, William D. Halstead. She is survived by her son, James R. Halstead II (wife Judy K. Halstead), and her daughter, Judith N. Haines (husband Craig L. Haines). As well as, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and nieces and nephews.

Nadine was an amazing strong independent woman, a loving mother and friend. How do you sum up 101+ years of life? Oh, the things she could tell us with all the experiences and historical happenings through her life. She could do anything that she put her mind to and was always ready to try new experiences. Some of her favorite things to do included playing the piano, took up guitar in her 80's (including the bass guitar), loved music and dancing, playing golf, playing bridge and games, billiards was a favorite, whatever it may be to spend time with family and friends. She was never shy about sharing her knowledge and talents. She mastered new technology as it happened, could hook up all the new gadgets to the TV as they came out, and loved to help others with their connections. Nadine mastered her iPhone and iPad, messaging and email, and let's not forget facetime. She taught us to work hard; when you belong to a team you never quit; to be trustworthy and encouraged us to be independent. We were so lucky to have her as our mother, grandmother, friend, and to always know we were loved. All who knew her became not just a friend but part of her family. We will miss talking with her, seeing her smile and feeling her hugs, but she will be remembered and held in our hearts forever.
