Charles Michael Benoit
August 26, 1942-October 4, 2023
Michael Benoit, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend left this earth on October 4, 2023, to watch over the substations in Heaven.
Michael was born on Wednesday, August 26, 1942, in Tacoma, WA. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Gault Jr High, and Lincoln High School where he met the love of his life, Jeanette Whitaker (Benoit). In 1962, Michael enlisted in the Navy to fulfill his dream of being on a nuclear submarine. It was in the Navy he embarked on his lifelong electrical profession. He completed his naval career aboard the USS Tunny in December 1966 after 4 years, 2 months, and 7 days of service. As a civilian, he continued his electrical path as a lineman for Tacoma City Light where he retired in 1998 after 30 years of storm patrol. He quickly began his employment with Peninsula Light where he finally "Really" retired in 2008.
On July 27, 1964, Mike and Jeanette eloped to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and it was here that they began their 59 years of marriage where he mastered the term, "Yes dear". They went on to have 3 amazing daughters: Rhonda Canales, Michele (Shelli) Hasenauer, and Charlene (Charlie) Williamson. Family was always his number one priority and brought him so much love and laughter. His amazing smile, twinkling blue eyes and contagious laugh could light up any room. This incredibly selfless man left his mark on anyone that was in his presence. To his family he will always be their True North.
Michael is survived by his wife Jeanette Benoit, his daughters, Rhonda Canales (Earl); Michele Hasenauer (Troy) and Charlene Williamson (Justin-deceased), Grandchildren, Brianna Eakin (Kellen); Marcia Abernathy (Tye); Brooke Smart (Blaine); Benjamin Canales; Brandi Fillhart (Nick); Cole Williamson (Emma); Brock Williamson; Ashley Hasenauer-Ahlers; Jared Hasenauer (Alanis); Great Grandchildren, Brayden; Faith; Emily and Jade; brother James Benoit (Shirley); sister Patricia Murray (Robert) along with several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by his parents Alphonse O. Benoit and Mary M. Benoit
Michael, please continue to watch over us and keep the power flowing to all the stars in Heaven.
