Tacoma
Melody Helen Wentworth (Fultz)
Melody Helen Wentworth, born February 28, 1956, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma on Friday, September 22, 2023, surrounded in love by her son, Jamie, niece Peggy, and nephew, Derek.
She was born and lived in the Tacoma-Fife area except for a few short years spent in Massachusetts with her husband and his family.
Melody, a daughter, sister, mother, auntie, grandma, and friend lived a humble life. She was unassuming, loving, kind, and generous – she would literally given the shirt off her back to someone in need. She was content with life and valued what she had. She always tried to see the good in everyone and gave everything to those she loved. She didn't ask for a lot and was grateful for the people in her life.
She loved receiving gifts and always showed childlike excitement and gratitude. Melody also loved giving gifts. She listened and paid attention to the little things that were important to the people who were important to her.
Melody was a creative artist who loved arts and crafts, sewing, and crocheting. Throughout the years, she made hundreds of beautiful gifts for those she loved, and we will forever treasure our handmade photo albums, sweaters, baby blankets, booties, and Barbie clothes. She had ingenuity and could figure out how to fix almost anything.
She was fun and funny and never forgot what it feels like to be a kid. She was the cool mom and auntie, and we have many, many wonderful memories that we will hold onto forever.
She was the best mama to her son, Jamie. She was always so very proud of him and his accomplishments. She meant the world to him.
Melody was the strongest woman on earth as she had experienced and endured pain her entire life. While we will miss her every day, there is peace in knowing that she can now rest.
Melody is preceded in passing by her loving husband, Donald Wentworth, and mother, Marjorie Manglona.
She is survived by her son, Jamie Fultz, her adopted children, Jonathan Melius, Will Gee, Donna Flemminks, Jermey Snyder, Becky Snyder, Sister, Linda Rueckl, Brother, Martin Fultz, Nephew, Tim Fultz, Niece, Peggy Quinlivan, and husband/nephew, Derek Murphy and Niece, Mary Jaynes and husband/nephew, Tony Jaynes, Best friend since childhood, Cindy Parker, and her many beloved great nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In the coming months, her family and friends will honor her life in celebration at a date to be determined.
