Mary Barton

October 15, 1936 - July 6, 2024

Mary Barton passed away peacefully at the Eliseo Nursing Home in Tacoma, Washington on July, 6 2024.

Mary was born on October 15, 1936 in the Ukraine to Anna and Fedir. They eventually arrived to safety in Germany. After the war, Mary and her family came to the United States settled in Denver, Colorado.

Mary married JC Barton in Denver and raised four children, James, Debbie, Michele, and Mark. She was a military wife and the family moved frequently around the country during the Vietnam war era. After her marriage ended, Mary raised her four children as a single mom. Eventually moving to Tacoma, Washington to be closer to family and start a new life. She was a beloved hostess/waitress at notable restaurants and hotels in the Tacoma area until retirement.

She loved her children, animals, her faith, marigold flowers and singing. She was enamored with American cinema and theater. Her favorite place was to be on the beach. She could watch the waves and seagulls all day while enjoying a hot cup of coffee or a cold Coors Light.

Mary is survived by her daughter Debbie, son Mark, her siblings:  two brothers and two sisters, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son James, mother and father along with seven (7) siblings.

Mary was a passionate protector and lover of her family, a hard worker and a survivor of all the unimaginable difficulties she faced throughout her life. She always offered a list of simple reminders to work hard, look both ways, brush your teeth and stay away from bad people. She is missed by all who were fortunate to know her loving and funny personality.  Never Forgotten, Forever in Hearts with Much Love.
