In Loving Memory of Marilyn Jean Lindberg

November 8, 1929 – October 14, 2025

Marilyn "Jean" Lindberg was born in Minot, North Dakota, to Calvin and Mary (Linder) Christoph. Her early years were spent in the Kapowsin community, where she attended Kapowsin Grade School through sixth grade and continued to Kapowsin Junior and Senior High School. Jean went on to earn her degree from Washington State University, beginning a lifelong dedication to learning and education.

Jean and her husband, Don, built a loving home together and raised three children. As an educator, Jean touched countless young lives through her years of teaching in the Tacoma Public Schools—at Ruston, Hilltop Heritage, and Downing Elementary—where her kindness and steady presence left a lasting mark.

Faith and fellowship were central to Jean's life. She and Don were devoted members of Mount Cross Lutheran Church in University Place, where they nurtured enduring friendships and found joy in service to others.

In retirement, Jean and Don embraced adventure and generosity—traveling widely, volunteering at the Veterans' Golf Course at American Lake, and sharing their love of square dancing. They also cherished their winters as "snowbirds," basking in the warmth of Mesa, Arizona.

Jean's life was filled with love for her family. She is survived by her children Diane (and Kris Nigh), Mike (Laurel Livingston), and Duane (Bach-Kim Nguyen); her beloved grandchildren Kelly, Peter, Blair, and Jon; and great-granddaughters Charlie Jean and Avery, who carry her name and spirit forward.

Jean will be remembered for her grace, compassion, and unwavering love for family and community.
