Marilyn Rodgers
Cooksie
Apr 1, 1939 — May 22, 2022
Tacoma
Our loving mom, Marilyn Rodgers Cooksie, was born on April 1, 1939, and after a long illness, passed away on May 22, 2022. She was born in Ogden, Utah to Forrest and Florence Rodgers and spent most of her life in Tacoma, Washington.
Marilyn enjoyed spending lots of time with her sons and extended family, especially during the holidays and special family trips. She also enjoyed taking care of anyone that needed her help. She helped in the Boys Club and many other community sponsorships when her sons were young and took care of her grandsons and great grandsons along the way. Raising her boys was among Marilyn's greatest joys in life. We will all miss her great story telling of family tales, her unconditional willingness to help, and love for all. She held a position with the Tacoma Athletic Commission for several years as well as other smaller jobs while caring for her family. She also traveled to Alaska and lived there for a time with her husband James Cooksie.
Because of her involvement in Mineral Rights during her lifetime, she was invited by the NARO association to represent the Rockies division at their national conventions. We all considered that a high honor to her dedication on the subject matter.
Being an only child, she grew up with and was close with some of her cousins Rose, Carolyn, and Allen. They were as close as sisters and brothers at times. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Pederson, William Rohr, and James Cooksie.
Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Rick Pederson (Connie), Forrest Pederson (Donna) and grandsons, Sean, Nick, Kyle (Brianne), Kurt (Megan) and Jake. Great grandsons, Dillan, Ethan, Kaysen, and Luke. Also, stepson, David Gerry and stepdaughter, Nancy Erdman.
Please join Marilyn's family at her service and light reception on Friday, June 17, 2022, at New Tacoma Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
