Obituary

Luella was born in Circle, Montana on July 10 th , 1932 to John and Anna Chambers.  She passed away October 17 th , 2022 at Tacoma General Hospital from congestive heart failure. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents and three brothers.  Luella is survived by her sister Eleen, sons Scott and Jeff (Cynthia), daughter Julie Taylor (Paul), along with grandchildren Richard Case and Samuel and Joseph Taylor.

Luella graduated from Lewis and Clark High School, in Spokane Washington in 1950.  She married her high school sweetheart John Case on November 3, 1951.  Over the next four years while John served in the US Navy, Luella worked and saved towards making a home for them after John was discharged.

In 1960 John and Luella started their family in Spokane with the adoption of Scott and then in 1961 Luella gave birth to their second son Jeff.  The family moved to the Tacoma area in 1963 and in 1966 their daughter Julie was born.

As her family grew, Luella became involved in a variety of activities, including PTA, Cub Scout Den Mother, Blue Birds and Boy Scouts.  In addition, Luella enjoyed bowling on a women's league at Tower Lanes.  As her children got older, Luella began working at the Tacoma General Hospital gift shop, eventually becoming manager.  She also worked for many years in the registration office at Tacoma Community College.  Luella was also very active at Skyline Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, serving as an elder and deacon several times.

Luella was a devoted wife, kind and loving mother and nana, good friend to many, a very good listener, a wonderful preparer of amazing family meals, lovely hostess for many holiday gatherings and a person full of compassion, deep faith and honesty.  She will be deeply missed and remembered with much love.

Memorial services with be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 6 th at the New Tacoma Cemetery chapel, on Chambers Creek Road in University Place.  Luella's family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your charity of choice.
