Lorraine Sylvester was born August 14, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Julian Sylvester and Ruby Watts. As a child the family relocated to Tacoma Washington where she attended McCarver Elementary School. It was at McCarver Elementary School where she met Milton Turner who she would marry years later. She attended Stadium High School where she demonstrated leadership abilities. She was an honor student, president of the Distributive Education Club, manager of the school store, member of the Girl's Council, Fellowship Committee Co-leader, and a member of the House of Representatives. During her off-school hours she was on the Bon Marche Fashion Board and the president of the Mount Tabor Baptist Church Youth Choir.

In 1968 she married Milton Turner and had two sons from this union: Milton Jr. and Donnell. In 1973 the family moved to Chicago where they would stay until 1979. Later that year she and her two boys relocated to Redding, CA. where she gained another son, Lance James. In 1995 Lorraine returned to Tacoma, where she resided until her heavenly transition on August 27, 2021.

Lorraine was an Associate Elder at Greater Christ Temple Church (GCTC) in Tacoma, Washington, under the pastorate of the late Bishop Curtis E. Montgomery and the current pastor Suffragan Bishop Prentis V. Johnson. She was a member for over 20 years. She served in numerous ministerial positions in the church from Christian Education, Women's Ministry, Gospel Choir, Singles Ministry, and supported the Youth Ministry. She also served on the Oasis of Hope Board and the Oasis of Hope Foundation Board as president. She was the President and co-founder of GCTC's Agape Bible College in Tacoma, Washington where she also taught students from the Associates to the Doctoral levels.

She was an international Evangelist having preached in both England and Germany and across the United States. Evangelist Sylvester was ordained to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ in 2003 by the Pacific Northwest District Council (PNDC) of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW). She held two undergraduate degrees; a Bachelor of Theology and a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science; three graduate degrees; two Master degrees, one in Biblical Studies and the other in Rehabilitative Counseling, and a Doctorate of Theology in Biblical Studies from Midwest Theological University.

Lorraine was active in the PNDC for 20 years as a member of the Women's and Singles Ministries; she served as a Healthcare Professional; Audit Committee Chair; Altar Workers Trainer; Adjunct Professor for the Moore Montgomery Bible College; MLR (Minimum Licensing Requirements) Coordinator; and was the Chair of the License and Credentials.

Lorraine was a professional Trainer/Consultant for more than 10 years. She was a Certified Work Strides Trainer for the State of Washington Vocational Rehabilitation Services; and a Certified Dependable Strengths Articulations Process Instructor. She was a Washington State licensed therapist and provided mental health counseling and life coaching in her private practice, Pathways Consulting Services. She also formulated treatment plans for people with disabilities at a local state hospital in the greater Pierce County, Washington area.

She had strong passion and energy as a positive change agent. Her skills and expertise were utilized in her profession, but she was focused on saving souls for Jesus Christ. She enjoyed assisting people with career and technical education services, vocational assessment, training and consultation. With the help of God, she demonstrated creative and innovative approaches to promoting personal and spiritual growth in her clients. She believed in supporting individuals by helping them to reach their potential personally and spiritually. This passion afforded her the opportunity to teach and train consumers from a variety of venues; community-based organizations, state service agencies, law enforcement, Federal and the private sectors.

She dedicated her talents, skills and education to training individuals for Kingdom Building and Christian Education. She was a gifted presenter and anointed speaker. She demonstrated creative and innovative approaches to promoting spiritual growth and human potential in churches, conventions, seminars and workshops.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her father, Julian Sylvester, her mother Ruby Watts, brothers Jerry Sims (Wanda) and Larry, and her Sisters Priscilla and Shirley Austin.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, her sisters, Gloria Austin Putman (David) and Phyllis Woodard, her three sons Milton, Donnell and Lance (Jeannie); her grandchildren; Whitney Turner-Mayo (Zach), Aranesa Turner, Darius and Jayden James; her great grandchildren Myles, Norah, Cayden, and Shalom and a host of cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and friends.
