Lois Ann Johnson, a devoted educator, public servant, woman of faith, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on May 20, 1942, Lois developed an early appreciation for education, service, and helping others. She attended Stadium High School and later continued her education at the Knapp College of Business, establishing a strong foundation for a career marked by dedication and service.

Throughout her professional life, Lois built an impressive and diverse career. She worked with organizations including Boeing and Weyerhaeuser. Her passion for helping others also led her to Tacoma Public Schools, where she served as an educator in the Push/Excel program and at the Rainier School. She served and retired from the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Through her work, Lois touched the lives of many with her patience, encouragement, and commitment to helping others succeed.

Lois's faith was an important part of her life. She was a faithful member of Allen A.M.E. Church, where she served on the Usher Board and welcomed others with warmth and grace. She was also a proud member of Matron of the Order of the Eastern Stars, The Matrons Club of Tacoma, and Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., where she enjoyed sisterhood, fellowship, and service to her community.

Those who knew Lois will also remember the wonderful personality behind all of her accomplishments. She had a vivacious spirit, an infectious laugh, and a joyful singing voice that could brighten a room. Lois had a flair for elegance and loved looking her best. She appreciated life's special touches from enjoying a favorite drink in elegant glassware to surrounding herself with beautiful d[1]ecor. Holidays held a special place in her heart, and her love of decorating helped fill her home with the warmth, beauty and celebration she treasured.

Above all, Lois loved her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Potts; beloved daughter Jowanna Johnson; spouse Joe W. Johnson; father Albert Jones, and stepfather Louis Potts.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, LaTonya Johnson, Derrick Johnson, and Ricky Johnson; her siblings, Violet K. Potts and Louis D. Potts; her grandchildren, LaCrystal, Cedric, Treyvon, Jordan, Duval, and LaShae; her great-grandchildren, Myla, Kamar'e, Nyla, Rylie, Skylar and Harlym; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to Lois's dear friends, Roxy and Anita, for their friendship, love, support, and the special place they held in her life.

Lois leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, strength, family, laughter, and love. Her vibrant personality, beautiful spirit, and the many lives she touched will remain treasured memories for all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
