Lakewood
Lieselotte Ingrid Spencer
Sunrise ~ 1 August 1931 Sunset ~ 10 December 2024
Lieselotte (Lilo) Spencer was born in Heilbronn, Germany, and passed away in Lakewood, Washington, her home for over 50 years. She is predeceased by her parents, Erwin and Elise Pfadler, and her husband, William (Bill) Spencer. Lilo is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (grandpuppy, Winnie), and her son, Michael (Erin). She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Adrian (Francesca) and Alexandra (Brandon), and four great-grandchildren, Aidan, Evan, Brendolyn, and Eleanor.
Lilo was a teenager in Germany during World War II, witnessing, experiencing, and surviving the travesties of a brutal time. After the war, she worked on a US military base, Robinson Barracks in Stuttgart, where she met and married Bill. They were married for almost 52 years when Bill passed away in 2006.
Having been stationed in various locations, including Texas and Germany, Lilo and Bill's last assignment was in Washington State, where they made their final home in Lakewood.
Lilo enjoyed her many years of long, enduring friendships, which have also passed on to the next generation. She enjoyed reading, participating in various clubs, eating out, gambling, and going on bus trips.
Her health starting to fail, Lilo surpassed life expectancy (maybe with the help of a little German stubbornness!), much to the marvel of her doctors. By all rights, she should still be here, but a recent diagnosis of a brain tumor quickly took her away from us.
If Lilo could have last words, she would say, "Tschuessle" and "I did it my way!" She lived a good, long life.
