Leona Betteridge died peacefully on February 4, 2023 in her home in University Place where she had lived for over 60 years. She was born in Olympia, Washington on February 17,1930 to Ellis and Edith (Milam) Blocher.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bryce, son Mark, and son-in-law Scott Edgley. She is survived by daughters: Julie Berry(Craig), Christine Tanner(Jeff), Beth McNaughton(Marse), Merilee Edgley Meacham(Bryan), Marie Bateman(Michael) and sons: Bryce Lamont(Heather), Loren(Merlene), and Benjamin (Rachel), and brother Loren Blocher. She was also blessed with 41 wonderful grandchildren and many dear great grandchildren.
Leona graduated from University of Puget Sound in 1956 with a degree in Home Economics. She taught briefly before devoting herself full time to her large family. With her husband Bryce she established a beautiful homestead and garden on a hillside overlooking Puget Sound. She had many creative gifts and talents which she used to serve others throughout her life.
Leona's most cherished role was as a mother and homemaker. She loved sewing, baking, painting, gardening and most important to her was raising, teaching, and being with her family. She also enjoyed writing, reading, traveling, and doing family history research. She enjoyed spending time with dear friends and had many opportunities to serve in a variety of callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
