Kerry Bruce Hayne
1950 – 2025

Kerry Bruce Hayne was born June 27, 1950, in Cincinnati, OH and was preceded in death by his father Forrest Ward Hayne his mother Lillian L. Roberts Hayne, his sister Cherie Hayne Lewis and his brother Gary Forrest Hayne.

Kerry graduated in 1968 from Mt. Tahoma High School, Tacoma, WA where he played football as a tackle.  In 1972, after attending Central Washington State College, he went to work at the Tacoma Smelter. When the smelter closed in 1993, Kerry retrained as a computer technician. His expertise in that field led him to become the first IT employee at Good Sam Hospital. He remained in the field of computer technology retiring from Multi-Care in 2014.

Kerry was married to Malinda for 49 years. He loved to take road trips with their pups and camp out in their trailer. Kerry enjoyed their trips to Europe and Alaska making sure he soaked up as much history as possible. He loved all kinds of music; he and Malinda enjoyed attending concerts—the Darington Bluegrass Festival was one of their favorite summertime activities.

Kerry spent hours in their yard, tending flower beds, feeding their beloved birds and making sure their grass was cut perfectly! One of Kerry's favorite things to do was to help Malinda prepare for parties with family and friends—especially when he was called upon to be the taste-tester! Having friends and family around brought him pure joy.

Kerry was the beloved brother-in-law to Paul and Mary Morgan and Jerry and Robin Lerum. He was uncle to 19 nieces and nephews and great-uncle to 17 more, but he was so much more than just an uncle. At times he was a father, grandfather, mentor, or confidant.  He took great pleasure in telling the littles silly jokes, making "bad" puns and instigating harmless pranks.

His love for Christ showed in everything he said and did. Kerry gave his heart to Jesus Christ when he was an adolescent. He served the Lord in numerous church choirs and as Music Director at Larchmont Community Church. He was a member of University Place Presbyterian Church for 35 years where he sang tenor in the choir, served as a Steven Minister, and participated in the visitation ministry. He was part of the "Friday Morning Men's Group" where he enjoyed fellowship with special men who shared his faith in Christ.

Even though he was a quiet man, he lived large.  When he entered a room, you could feel his special presence.  We know that Kerry is in heaven, singing with the angels and causing just a wee bit of mischief!  Although we were not afraid for him to go, our hearts are broken at his leaving. He will forever hold a place in our hearts that no other can fill.
