Joshua Scott Boyd, a beloved son of Richard Smith and Sue Taylor Boyd, had his own sense of timing in life, arriving in this world (nearly two weeks after his due date) on June 15, 1984 at the United States Army Hospital in Nürnberg, Germany. The youngest of four boys, Josh grew up in a loving and supportive home, but also learned that "Home is where the Army sends us." In his youth, Josh lived in Nürnberg, Germany, Silver Springs, Maryland, Fort Knox, Kentucky, DeRidder, Louisiana, Würzburg, Germany, and finally University Place, Washington, where he would live for the rest of his life. When he was 8, during the move from Louisiana to Germany, Josh was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in his Grandma and Grandpa Taylor's pool. While living in Würzburg, Germany, Josh traveled extensively with his family, visiting countries such as Poland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Switzerland, England, Scotland, and Turkey.

Josh married the love of his life, Brittany McIntosh on April 8, 2017, when the cherry blossoms were in bloom. Josh always loved children and with this marriage he became an instant dad to Gracie, Daisy, and Cash. One of his proudest days in life was the day he adopted Daisy and Cash. The family loved yearly visits to Westport and Port Townsend. In Westport, they soaked in the sunsets. In Port Townsend they stayed at Manresa Castle and roamed around Fort Warden. Josh loved cooking for his family, especially steaks (for which he made his own seasoning), schnitzel (because of his time in Germany), and aebelskivers (from his Danish ancestors), which his kids affectionately called "Evil Skeemers." Josh loved playing guitar, singing with his family, playing video games with his kids and telling dad jokes.

Josh enjoyed most of the outdoor activities the beautiful Pacific Northwest provides. At various times in his life, Josh took to hiking, skiing, dirt-biking, and off-roading, but no sports were as beloved to him as golfing and fishing. Josh once hit a hole-in-one and he loved fishing for trout and salmon in the Nisqually River, often joined by friends and family.

Josh crafted wood into many fine and useful, but sometimes whimsical things for friends and family. He designed and sold many toy kitchens and cabinets for children and picnic tables for squirrels.

Josh returned to his eternal home on September 2, 2023 and is preceded in death by his grandparents Lewis and Marjorie Boyd, and J. Rodney and Claire Taylor. Josh is survived by his wife Brittany, children Gracie, Daisy, and Cash, parents Richard and Sue, in-laws Tammy and David McIntosh, brothers Jeremy (Makell), Jason (Katie), and Jeffrey (Michelle), brothers-in-law Jake (Katie) and Shaun, eleven nieces, and eight nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4219 Beckonridge Dr W, University Place, WA. Interment to take place at the New Tacoma Cemetery.
