Obituary

Jonathan (Jon) Monroe Irwin

May 8, 1957 – February 14, 2024

Jonathan Monroe Irwin, 66 years of age, went home to his Heavenly Father on February 14, 2024. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, while on hospice for 8 weeks. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Johanna (Jo) Irwin, and two adult children, Danielle (Dani) Braund and Randy Irwin. Born in Dunedin, Florida, May 8, 1957, to Judith McAbee, Mother, and 2 brothers, Rich Irwin and Mitch Irwin, and the uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Jon started his work in Florida as an ironworker and automobile mechanic, but when he moved to Washington State he went to work with the Roofers Local #54. He worked at several companies in 30 years, but was the longest at SQI, Inc.  Jon was a devoted family man, and enjoyed being with his wife and two kids immensely. He was passionate about salmon fishing, hunting, the outdoors, woodworking and gardening. He always looked forward to our annual fishing trips to Sekiu, WA where thousands of memories and fish stories were made.

Jon wasn't particularly a religious man. Before he married his wife, Jo Irwin, he had converted to Catholicism in 1997, and then got married on December 18,1998 in the Catholic Church. Shortly after, Jon was Knighted as a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, fraternal organization. He served one year as their Grand Night, at All Saints Catholic Church in Puyallup. He spent many years actively involved with the K of C's and in the community before getting sick with cancer. In 2006 he was honored with the Family of The Quarter with the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 9th, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church 503 3rd St. SW Puyallup, WA 98371, with a reception following.
