Joline Ione
Green
Jun 3, 1932 — Nov 2, 2025
Joline Ione Green passed away at age 93 on November 2, 2025, in Federal Way, WA. She was born June 3, 1932, to Harold O. Cross and Louise H. Weatherbie Cross, on a small farm near Oakville, WA; the second of three children.
Joline grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She developed excellent office administration and communication skills that eventually led to her serving as executive secretary for renowned local lumberman Ben Cheney for several years.
Joline married Donald Lester Green in 1957, and they raised two children, Diana and David, in their home in University Place, WA. When her children were older, Joline joined Don in their wholesale jewelry business, where she served as vice president. Family was always important to Joline, and she enjoyed hosting holiday dinners, as well as casual picnics and parties around her backyard swimming pool. She was a fabulous cook, a generous hostess, and an impeccable dresser. Her organizational and filing skills ensured everyone in the family could always find what they needed.
In her later years, Joline was the most fantastic grandmother to David and Roslyn. She and Don hosted many memorable birthday parties for both kids, whose birthdays luckily fell during swimming pool season. Of course, there was always a beautiful homemade cake!
Joline loved music and was a talented piano player. She passed on that appreciation of music to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Martin; son-in-law, Keith Martin; grandchildren, David and Roslyn Martin; and sister, Shirley Kidwell, as well as beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Those who passed before her include her parents, her husband, Don, her son, David, and her brother, Del Cross.
She will be interred at New Tacoma Cemetery, alongside others in her family. She loved and was loved by many, and she will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
