Jo Ann Murphy, born November 20, 1933, in Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 7, 2025 in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 91.

Jo Ann lived a vibrant and full life, defined by grace, independence, and an enduring love for dance. A lifelong performer and teacher, she ran her own dance studio, sharing her passion for tap, jazz, and ballet with generations of students. She was also a talented seamstress. Whether she was mending a costume or making a gift for her grandchildren, she poured her love into the details. But her greatest joy came from family and the creative rhythm she brought to the world.

She was deeply devoted to her family and never missed a birthday, holiday, or school performance. Always showing up with love, support, and her kind presence.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Piksa and Dienne Felgar; her son-in-law, Ronald Piksa; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Tamara Piksa; and her great-grandchildren, Logan and Luke Piksa. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, care, and joy that will be remembered always.

A graveside service to celebrate Jo Ann's life will be held at New Tacoma Cemetery on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
