Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice M. Shinafelt, beloved wife, mother, GG, sister, aunt and friend to many. Jan was born March 8 th 1939 in Nebraska. She was the oldest of 3. Her family moved a bit due to her father's jobs but eventually landed her in Tacoma. She attended schools in the Tacoma area ending up at the University of Puget Sound, where she met some of her lifelong friends. Jan worked several jobs before settling into the Peninsula School District as the head payroll officer. Jan also volunteered with several groups that helped/supported children. She always had a special love for children. Jan enjoyed reading, writing, and going to the casino. But her life's passion was traveling. She wasn't content unless she had a trip planned. She was always up for a trip.

Jan loved to be with her family, they were her everything. She adored her three grandchildren and especially adored her great grandkids. Her day was complete when she could spend time with them. Jan was known for her bright, big beautiful, smile and "I want to go" attitude. She made everyone she met feel welcomed and part of the family.

Jan was proceeded in death by her husband Bill, and her parents June and Lewis Landburg. She is survived by her boyfriend Bob, her children Michael and Sue (Joe), Grandchildren Kelly, Lindley (John) and Shauna (Nick), great grandchildren Balin and Layna, brothers Steve (Margie) and Terry and her nieces and nephews. Jan will be dearly missed by her entire family and the friends she cherished during her 83 years of life. We love and will always miss you, Jan. Rest in peace and comfort.
