James Marvin Lakose

March 29, 1971 – December 1, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Marvin Lakose, 53, of Tacoma, WA, who left us far too soon on December 1, 2024.

James (Jim) was born on March 29, 1971, to Marvin and Judy Lakose. A man of dedication, humor, and kindness, he brought joy to all who knew him and was always willing to lend a hand to help. He graduated from Mt Tahoma High School in 1989 while at the same time earning his Broadcast Engineering degree from Bates Vocational School. Jim was a man of many talents. He enjoyed live sound engineering, picking up any type of tool to repair or replace something, and most of all, enjoyed the last 5 years with Taco Time NW, where he truly felt valued and a part of their family.

Jim is survived by his children, Aubree Fries (age 33), Ashley Lakose (age 30), Cassie Clark (age 26), Madison Lakose (age 22); his grandchildren, Ellianna & Emilia (age 3), and Colton (age 2); his sister, Karen Olson and her husband, Jack; and his nephew, Michael Messer.

Jim had a passion for tinkering and repair. He loved spending his spare time making things work, discovering new places to eat, enjoying his favorite TV shows, and spending time on or near the water. If you were lucky enough, you would have experienced his storytelling. Jim loved to share his life experiences and knowledge with others. Above all, Jim valued his relationship with the Lord. Throughout his life, he was dedicated to serving in church, where his talents were instrumental and appreciated.

Jim's laughter, wisdom, storytelling, and love for those around him will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held for Jim at a later time. The family will post details once a date has been decided on. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
