Ida Brunson
03/10/1941 – 08/27/2025
With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Ida Brunson, who departed this life on August 27, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on March 10, 1941, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of Carrie Mae Bronaugh.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Brunson, daughter, Della Bussell, and brothers Fred Sanders, Raymon Reeves, and Walter Buckley. She is lovingly survived by her daughter Juanita Cheatham, son- in-law Anthony Cheatham, sister-in-law Glory Rolfe, life-time friend Fannie Pitt, and a proud legacy of grandchildren: William (Brandy), Necole (Michael), Nikita, Sherita, Gwen (Ramone), Christopher, Denay (Mario), Teri (Patrick), Jamease (Derrick), and Kia. Ida's spirit will also live on through her great-grandchildren: Carlos, Dellyona, O'Marea, Javion, Dai'Marrius, Xavier, Faith, Bri'yannah, Heaven, Nino, and Emerald.
A caregiver in both profession and spirit, Ida devoted over 40 years to working as a nurse's aide, nurturing others with grace, compassion, and strength. Known to her grandchildren by her playful nickname, "Ida Spida Humpback Rida," she brought laughter, love, and unforgettable stories to every family gathering. She especially lit up when surrounded by her great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.
Ida had a natural gift for making connections—no one was ever a stranger. She could spark a conversation with anyone, and often did, leaving people better than she found them. Her days were filled with the soulful sounds of Al Green and the twang of country music, which she loved as much as she loved sharing her wisdom and warmth.
Ida Brunson's legacy is one of unconditional love, enduring strength, and an open heart. Her spirit will live on in the lives she touched and the family she held so dear.
