Hisako Y. Shrout passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family.  She was born on May 15, 1928 and died on November 13, 2025 at the age of 97. She was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She moved to the United States after marrying her husband, Herman, in 1953.

She leaves behind her daughter Patricia, son Harvey, daughter Brenda (Steve), 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She is now reunited with her mother, father, brother, husband, and eldest son (Harold).

She was a woman of God and thanked Him daily for giving her a beautiful long life. She was a loving mother to 4 children, sometimes raising them on her own while her husband served in the wars. She showed strength, patience and humor while juggling a job, taking care of a home, and raising her children.

She enjoyed a variety of jobs, starting as a strawberry picker in California to a career as an accountant at the Civil Engineers office at McChord AFB. After retirement she became a store product demonstrator.

She was loved by all who knew her. She loved God, her family, and many friends. She loved crocheting, going fishing, camping, and creating memories with her family. She enjoyed spending time with her husband playing cards with their friends on the weekends. Later in life she enjoyed playing the slot machines. Her husband took her to the casino many times, as well as trips to Reno.

She loved blessing others with her time and always had a smile on her face. She gave compliments to all she knew whenever she saw them. She would even give compliments to strangers she met in passing on the streets.

She is in a much better place resting in the arms of God. Although she has moved on to her permanent home, she will live forever in our hearts.

A funeral service will be at New Tacoma Cemetery on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 10:30am.
