Helen Ruth Sheridan, after a long and fruitful life, died peacefully of natural causes on December 17, 2022  in Tacoma, Washington. She was 92.

Helen was born on November 24, 1931, in Spokane, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Wandina Knesal, her three older brothers, Albert, Lloyd, and Arthur, and her beloved husband, George Phillip Sheridan. She is survived by her sister Cathy Kuntz, stepchildren Sandra Scovell Laney, Philip Michael Sheridan, and Lynn Scott Sheridan, grandchildren Jeffrey Scovell, Pamela Tweedy, Stephanie Scovell, Kimberley Danel, Timothy Sheridan, Sean Sheridan, Mark Sheridan and Jake Sheridan and seventeen great-grandchildren and six great, great-grandchildren.

Those who knew Helen will fondly remember her beautiful and constant smile, keen wit, and service to others. Helen was fiercely strong and independent. She worked tirelessly for many years in the Washington State Auditor's Office and volunteered with the Washington State Democratic Party, where she met George. Together they loved gardening, camping, fishing, and going to Washington Huskies football games. Visitors to their home would hear the Mariner's baseball games on the radio during baseball season and, if lucky, could enjoy the view of Mount Rainier from their porch. Helen will be remembered for being a faithful friend, her kindness and bright demeanor, and her deep faith in Jesus. She loved her church, Redeemer Lutheran, and regularly attended bible study and events there, enjoying the people and fellowship, which meant a great deal to her.

A graveside service is planned for 10:00 am on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the New Tacoma Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Chambers Creek Chapel Reception Area. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fircrest.
