Hayfa Baghdadi Dallal passed away peacefully the morning of August 2, 2024, with her loving husband, Zuhair, by her side at their home in University Place, WA, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Hayfa was born on April 20, 1953, to Knights of Baha'u'llah Adib and Wahida Baghdadi in the Garden of Ridwan, on the banks of the Tigris River in Baghdad, Iraq. In 1994, she married her husband, Zuhair, and moved to University Place, WA. Shortly thereafter, together they had their daughter, Mae, in 1995. She gained an additional source of love in 2010 when her beloved dog, Romeo, came into her life.

She immigrated to Canada in 1976, where she attended McGill University. In 1983 she moved to Bahrain and worked as a translator for more than ten years. In 2004 she returned to Iraq with the American Armed Forces where she worked as an interpreter assisting the Army in freeing the Iraqi people from a brutal dictatorship. When she returned home to Washington, she worked for many years as a medical interpreter for immigrant families needing health assistance.

Hayfa was a strong, joyful, radiant woman and a dedicated Baha'i who uplifted everyone and maintained a positive outlook even during her severe illness. Always rejecting any cynicism, she was successful in making all of our lives lighter. Hayfa exemplified Baha'u'llah's counsel to "Let each morn be better than its eve and each morrow richer than its yesterday." She was an avid reader and traveler, and became a source of knowledge about the history of the Faith that she lovingly embraced, and the world as a whole.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Zuhair; her daughter, Mae; and her sisters, Amal and Warqa; as well as by her brothers in-law, John and Kamal; her sister in-law, Kay; her nieces, Lydia, Liane and Sandra; her nephew, Jason; as well as by her many friends and relatives in Tacoma and around the world.
