28-year-old Hannah Williams passed away on September 17, 2024, in Tacoma, Washington after battling a grade four brain tumor like a street fighter for 5.5 years.  Hannah named her tumor Daphne and she tried relentlessly to kill it with chemotherapies, supplements, heat, and electrical impulses, a process she bore with determination, courage, and grace.

Hannah was born on May 24, 1996, while her parents were stateside on leave from a foreign service assignment in New Delhi, India.  Four weeks later, Hannah took her first international flight, a 32-hour trip from Washington DC to New Delhi.  Hannah went on to live most of her young life abroad in Mexico City, Dubai, and Mumbai, where she graduated from high school.  Her two favorite places in the world were Vienna, Virginia where she attended pre-school and kindergarten, and the front porch of her grandparents' home in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

Hannah attended Brigham Young University Idaho and earned a bachelor's degree in web design and development with a minor in sociology.  Her first job was an internship with Daimler Truck in Portland, Oregon where she worked on a team that developed user technologies for long-haul truckers.  Unfortunately, her cancer treatments proved too taxing, forcing her to leave the internship and, horror of horrors, move home with her parents in Gig Harbor, Washington.

While living at home was an indubitable trial of patience for Hannah, her parents loved having her with them for the past five years.  She was a constant source of companionship, humor, and joy.

Hannah loved manga and the films of Studio Ghibli; Hitchcock movies; watching reruns of Monk; almost any kind of music; playing Scrabble, beating her father at Wordle and the New York Times Spelling Bee; eating pho, tacos, and dosas; and teaching her parents about the ways of young people.  She loved to draw and sold her prints on Etsy.  Hannah was a member of the Gig Harbor Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  While many of her friends there were old enough to be her parents, she derived tremendous love and support from her relationships with her fellow saints.  She prepared the weekly bulletin, led the music for Sunday services, and served as a girls camp counselor.

Hannah is survived by her paternal and maternal grandparents, her parents, her two brothers and their wives, and her two favorite people in the world — her nephew Niall and niece Harriet.  Her death has left a gaping hole in our lives and we miss her terribly, but we look forward to uniting again in the eternities.
