H. Maynard Blumer, 95, passed away at home in Bonney Lake, Washington, on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Born on August 27, 1930, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, he was the second of two children of Harry Howard Blumer and Nona Alpha Fitzpatrick Blumer. Maynard was predeceased by his sister and his wife of 70 years, Cynthia Sue Linebaugh Blumer. He is survived by his children, Martha Blumer, Laura (Roger) Balcom, and Eric (Karen) Blumer, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Maynard graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. After graduation, Maynard completed his architectural internship and registration in Wichita, Kansas, then served two-years as a lieutenant in the Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. After the Army, Maynard worked for an architectural firm and the U.S. Forest Service in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1962, he joined the GSAS architectural firm in Phoenix, Arizona, and in 1982, he opened his own firm as a consulting architect. For his technical contributions to the architectural field, Maynard was elevated to Fellow of both the Construction Specifications Institute and the American Institute of Architects. He set national standards for specifications and architectural ethics. He also taught classes in the Architectural School at Arizona State University.

Maynard was an active member of Paradise Valley United Methodist Church for many years, serving in several leadership positions. He also served various community organizations, such as Camp Fire Camp Board, President of the Arizona Amateur Athletic Union, and Pop Warner Football, and he served on the Paradise Valley Planning and Zoning Commission. He also served in leadership positions in multiple professional organizations.

Maynard was known as an intelligent, kind, and generous person who instilled a sense of integrity and social responsibility in his children. He loved life and enjoyed art, music, dancing, travel, and gardening.

His Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, Paradise Valley, Arizona, on Saturday, May 2, at 10:00am.
