Frank Walter
Mundt Sr.
Jul 4, 1931 — Nov 27, 2024
Tacoma
Frank W. Mundt, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 27,, 2024. Born in Minnesota on July 4, 1931 to Pauline Sheldon and Frank Mundt, he lived his life in service to his country and his family. Frank was a sergeant serving in the US army during the Korean War, and went on to become a general contractor, , working for himself and his family in the construction industries. He also dabbled in real estate and the restaurant business. He built a legacy of hard work, resilience, and love that will live on in those who were lucky to know him.
Frank was married to the late Bonita Jamison for 46 years, and together they lovingly raised 5 children, Teresa (Dan), Anna, Frank, Mark, and John (Jody). Frank was the loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren, and the fabulous Papa Candy and Great Papa to 13 great grandchildren. He was the big brother and lifetime advocate for his sisters, LaDonna and Loretta. He enjoyed sharing his later life in friendship and love with his companion, Wilma Cammarota. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Loretta, Bonita, grandson Frank Jr, and granddaughter Joy Donohue. Frank adored all of his family, and they were his greatest joy.
Frank had a passion for life's simple pleasures. He loved cowboy movies, a good game of poker, and a well crafted potato salad at a family BBQ. He longed for both the camaraderie and the chaos that having a large family brought. His laughter was infectious, his stubbornness unmatched. He will be truly missed.
Services for Frank will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, beginning with a Catholic service at New Tacoma Funeral Home at 11:30am. A lunch celebration of a long life will lived will follow at Royal Gove Lodge (3736 South Sheridan Avenue).
