Frances Hilliard passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, just three days before her 95th birthday. She lived a long, full life defined by faith, love, and resilience.

Born in Tacoma, Washington, on March 15, 1931, Frances devoted her life to caring for others. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 and began her journey in nursing at St. Joseph's School of Nursing, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1953. With determination and passion, she returned to school and graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse. For forty-five years, she helped others not just as a profession but as a calling. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and even in the halls of St. Joseph's where her photo still hangs today.

Her faith guided her life. At Little Church on the Prairie, she was not only a member but a leader in her community. She showed what it meant to live with conviction, compassion, and purpose.

She is survived by her children Ronald (Kathy) Piksa, Denise Davidson and Carolyn Piksa. Her grandchildren Benjamin Piksa, Cody Shearer, Nicholas Piksa and Tamara Piksa. Her great-grandchildren Logan and Luke Piksa.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Hilliard and daughter Shelly (Stewart) Shearer.

Frances found joy in both adventure and simplicity. She rode dune buggies through the desert and searched for rocks and fossils while living in California and Oregon. She found peace in gardening, knitting, cooking, and reading. Never far from her side was a steady cup of Folgers coffee, one of life's small constants.

Sharp and bright until the very end, Frances never missed a detail. A reflection of the attentiveness and presence she brought to every part of her life.

She will be remembered for her strong will, keen wit, and her unwavering dedication to others. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
