Esther Marie (Velsvick) Wiesner, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed peacefully into the arms of our Savior on January 5, 2023.  She was born October 5, 1925 in Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone Park, Wyoming.

Esther spent her early years in Livingston, Montana.  In 1934 the family moved to Parkland, Washington.  She attended Parkland Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943.  After attending Pacific Lutheran College for one year, she transferred to Washington State College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1948.

Esther started her career at Weyerhaeuser Research and Development as an executive administrative assistant before taking 18 years off to raise her family.  She gave freely of her time as a PTA President, Cub Scout Den Mother and helped out with a servant's heart wherever there was a need.  Family came first and she always supported her family.

In 1972 she returned to her former position at Weyerhaeuser.  She played an important role in opening the new Weyerhaeuser Tech Center.  Esther retired in 1989 and was a proud member of the 20 Year Club.

In her free time Esther enjoyed traveling.  She and her husband took many wonderful trips.  Outings to the ocean, clam digging, camping, and picnicking with the kids and grandkids are fondly remembered.  In later years she relished adventures with her kids including cruises and road trips.  Esther would read two to three books a week.  After finishing a book, she made a short book report and kept a record of all the books she had read in the last 25 years.

A great part of her life was service to her Lord and Esther was a lifelong Lutheran.  She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, led Bible studies, taught Vacation Bible School, served on the Altar Guild, the hospitality team, and treasurer for Women of the Church.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, who she was married to for 59 years; her parents, Peter and Marie Velsvick; her sister, Ruth Berwold, and her son-in-law, John McCrossin.  She is survived by son Jerry (JoAnn) of west Seattle; daughter Connie McCrossin of Federal Way; grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Wiesner, Kyle McCrossin (Kristina) and Kevin McCrossin (Lauren).  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

A memorial service will be held on January 28th at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 3505 122nd Avenue East, Edgewood, WA  98373.
