"Together Again, Eternally"

Elaine Hancock was born January 28, 1939 in Tacoma, WA to Clayton and Erva Smethurst. She passed away peacefully December 16, 2022, in Tacoma, WA surrounded by family.  Elaine grew up in Tacoma, attending  Lincoln High School where she met the love of her life, Loren.  Elaine graduated and they married shortly after, on August 17, 1957. They were married almost 52 years before Loren took the relationship long distance, from Heaven.  Elaine and Loren went on to start their family of four children.  Elaine prided herself in her early career as a homemaker and set the bar very high. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and loved baking Christmas cookies.  Later, becoming an empty nester, she embarked on a career as a childcare center operator.  Elaine is preceded in death by her loving husband Loren, parents Clayton and Erva Smethhurst, stepfather Grant Hopkins, brother Clayton Smethurst and son Timothy.  She is survived by her brother Larry Smethurst (Deanna); children, Steven (Neenah), Lori (Tony) and Shari (George), five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for Monday, January 9th, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chambers Creek Chapel at New Tacoma Cemetery.
