Edna Mary Brooks passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2025 after a long battle from cancer.  Edna was born on September 25th, 1942 in Buckley, WA.  She lived most of her life in Tacoma, WA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Brooks, parents Laura Kanouse (Frank) & Charles Swanson, brothers Bill Swanson, Peter Modun, Mike Kanouse, and Bill Olson.

Edna retired from Tacoma Public Schools as one of the first female Chief Custodians.  Edna enjoyed family (especially her grandkids) summers by the pool, visits to the casino, road trips, and making sure everyone was taken care of.

She is survived by her son Ron Brooks (Susie), daughters Karla Brooks and Michelle Martinez (Ron); grandchildren Courtney, Brittany (Jordan), Lindsay (Ian), Chase, and Casey; great grandchildren Lucas, Cayden, Carter, Landon, and Charlie; sister Suzanne Swanson.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.  A small, family graveside service will be held on January 15th, 2025 followed by internment at New Tacoma Cemetery.
