Obituary

Edith Owen Wallace wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother.  "Granny" died on March 29, in Puyallup.  She lived a life full of adventure.

Granny was born in Coeur d'Alene Idaho on October 22, 1933 to Herman and Ruth Harris.  Edith was the oldest of three daughters.  Once Marlene and Max were old enough, the Harris trio was a force to be reckoned with.

Edith was fortunate enough to have three loves of her life.  Her first love was Robert Owen.  This marriage produced two daughters Mary and Laura.  Sadly Bob lost his life serving our country during the Vietnam War.  Through her church, she met Odell Wallace.  They married on June 16, 1979.  This union created a blended family of 6 daughters.  Many interesting adventures followed until Odell's death on May 1, 2013.  John Hickman was her companion in later years.

Edith was a tireless advocate for families.  Her primary work focused on Pierce County Kinship Care programs.  In 1983, she partnered with the Governor of Washington developing programs and providing resources for the disadvantaged children of our state.  Her touch was magic to the families that she served.  Edith's passion and resourcefulness were infectious.   A yearly award in her honor has been created through the Foster Parent Alliance of Washington State.

A celebration of life will be held on June 8 at 1:30 at Little Church on the Prairie.  Please come join us as we celebrate our mother's life with spirited remembrances.
