Douglas Gordon
Londgren

On the afternoon of September 7th, 2026, Doug Londgren returned to be with the Lord in Heaven after 94 years of incredible life.
How does one begin to summarize a man who was a beloved brother, father, and grandfather? Doug’s philosophy on how to love his family and friends was simple: build it on small acts of love. Whenever you visited, he always had a fresh pot of coffee and a sweet treat waiting for you. He would always ask how you and your family are doing, how your car is running, and whether you have eaten yet. At every birthday or holiday, a card was waiting for you in the mailbox. With his many grandchildren, Doug was always ready for a day at the zoo, the park, or a Mariners game. So many acts, seemingly small, but the love and its impact feels so strong in the wake of his passing.
Just like the humble man he was, Doug was born in humble beginnings. He was born to Edith and William Londgren on November 25th, 1931 in Lynd, Minnesota. He grew up on the farm with his older brothers, Duane and Dick, and his younger sisters, Betty and Miffy. In a time when life in America was hard, when farming could make or break you and your family, Doug worked to represent the best of what people can do in life when the world seemed darkest: supporting your community, loving your family, and to be mindful of the importance of education.
That philosophy carried him through his journey in the USAF in Germany and to Washington state where he attended Pacific Lutheran University. He would go on to obtain a master’s degree in education at San Jose State University. At PLU, he met and married the love of his life, Faith Kuball, who he was happily married to for 25 years (before she went to be with the Lord in Heaven).
Doug and Faith built a loving life and family in Fircrest, where Faith’s warm heart (and delicious cooking) filled the home. They marked many summers in their life together at their cabin on the shores of Lake Pokegama in Northern Minnesota.
Doug loved and played many sports at Lynd High School, including basketball, football, baseball, and track. He took the basketball skills he honed in Lynd and coached his youth basketball teams at the Fircrest Rec Center, where he was known as a wonderful coach and role model. Outside of the basketball season, he was always keeping up with the latest news of the Seahawks. But even more than sports, he loved history. It was his life and legacy, one that he shared as a history teacher at Woodbrook Jr. High and in the citizenship classes he taught to Washington’s newest arrivals. You could often find him reading the latest presidential biography, telling stories about the history he lived, or sharing sports and history trivia.
Doug leaves his legacy with his son Drew, his daughters Alice and Amy, and to his beloved grandchildren: Kate, Jack, Niamh, Omar, and Marianna.
Doug’s memorial will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Lakewood on 11/14/2026 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lyon County Parks in Minnesota, where proceeds will go to support children’s Easter baskets at the annual Lyon County Parks Easter Event. The donations will be announced at the event in memory of Doug.
